Cuando el actor Robert Rusler (La La Land) present\u00f3 nuestra pel\u00edcula y la ronda de preguntas durante el Festival Internacional de Cine de Malibu (California), donde recibimos el Premio al Mejor Documental y el Premio del P\u00fablico, se le saltaron las l\u00e1grimas porque \u00e9l tambi\u00e9n hab\u00eda sido v\u00edctima de abuso sexual y eso le marc\u00f3 de por vida.<\/p>\n

En el Festival de Cine Latino de San Diego, un hombre mexicano-americano sinti\u00f3 la necesidad de contar su historia de abuso en p\u00fablico por primera vez. \u201cMi ni\u00f1era me viol\u00f3 cuando ten\u00eda cuatro a\u00f1os. Con seis, mi t\u00eda empez\u00f3 a abusar de m\u00ed. M\u00e1s adelante fui yo quien iba a buscarla. Me hab\u00edan despertado la sexualidad y no sab\u00eda lo que hac\u00eda. Ya cerca de la pubertad intent\u00e9 hablar sobre ello con chicos mayores que yo pero la \u00fanica respuesta era \u2018\u00a1Qu\u00e9 suerte tuviste!\u2019 \u201d.<\/p>\n
En el Festival de Cine de Derechos Humanos de Valencia (Espa\u00f1a), una refugiada colombiana dijo, \u201cNunca he tenido el valor de decirle a nadie que mi madre es prostituta. Pero tu pel\u00edcula me ha dado la fuerza para hacerlo. Quiero que el mundo entero sepa que estoy orgullosa de mi madre, porque siempre me protegi\u00f3 y nunca me dijo qu\u00e9 tipo de trabajo hac\u00eda. Casi todos en mi familia y en mi pueblo me dec\u00edan que nunca podr\u00eda hacer nada con mi vida siendo hija de prostituta. Sin embargo, me form\u00e9 y cuando comenc\u00e9 a hacer demasiadas preguntas sobre la desaparici\u00f3n de mi madre a manos de los paramilitares, tambi\u00e9n yo me convert\u00ed en su objetivo\u201d.<\/p>\n
At the San Diego Latino Film Festival, a Mexican American man felt compelled to tell his story of abuse in public for the first time. \u00abI was raped by my nanny as a four-year-old. When my aunt started abusing me, I was six. Then it was me who at that young age started to look for her. I had my sexuality arisen and I didn’t know any better. When I was nearing puberty I tried to talk about it to older boys around me, but the only answer I got was, ‘Oh man, how lucky you are.\u2019\u00bb<\/p>\n
At the Valencia Human Rights Film Festival in Spain, a Colombian refugee said, \u00abI never had the courage to share that I am the daughter of a prostitute. But your film gave me the strength. I want to tell the world that I am proud of my mother because she always protected me and never let me see the work she was doing. Most in my family and village told me I could never do anything with my life being the daughter of a prostitute. But I educated myself, and when I started asking too many questions about my mother’s disappearance at the hands of the paramilitary, I became their target, too.\u00bb<\/p>\n
